'Van Overleven naar Leven' is an eight-part docu-series featuring personal stories of life after childhood cancer, created in collaboration with the Princess Máxima Center. Thanks to the Princess Máxima Center, I was able to expand my earlier short documentary, 'LATER,' into a full series.
This project is my way of inspiring others and showing that it's possible to lead a rich and fulfilling life after a childhood cancer diagnosis, no matter what this diagnosis has brought into your path. Sharing these stories is a tribute to the strength of survivors and their ability to transition from surviving childhood cancer to living after childhood cancer.
Each episode focuses on a different theme, such as the impact on mental and physical health, work, relationships, fertility, sibling relationships, and identity. 75% of adults who had childhood cancer experience one or more treatment-related effects. Personal interviews are intertwined with animations, dance, music, and poetic visuals created by adults with experience in (childhood) cancer.
